Vinyl siding is one of the most popular siding choices due to its overall durability as well as its beautiful appearance. However, in order for it to be effective, it needs to be hung properly; otherwise there’s a chance that cracks and pops will occur. Hiring a vinyl siding contractor in Kansas City is the best way to handle this task without major headaches down the line. The following are some of the tasks that a vinyl siding contractor in Kansas City will do to hang your vinyl siding:

  • One of the tools that is needed for vinyl siding installation and removal is the zip tool. When removing a panel, you’ll need to unlock the panel above it using the zip tool. If your siding is somewhat tight, it may be difficult to hook your zip tool onto the locking edge.
  • Vinyl siding panels need to be properly cut. There has to be a 1/4 inch gap at every end. This requires perfect measurements. When nailing in the panels, there needs to be 1/16 of an inch to 1/8 of an inch of the shank exposed to allow the vinyl to expand and contract as the temperature changes.
  • In addition to installing vinyl siding, you’re going to need to install flashing underneath the window in order to make it water tight. This can be tricky, since it will need to extend from the window to overlap the nailing hem of the vinyl siding below it. The top edge needs to be slid under the window fin and then nailed off using roofing nails. Aluminum flashing works the best with vinyl siding.
